Near Porthcawl, Bridgend CF36 3UW

This popular Blue Flag beach is a few miles out of Porthcawl but when you get there it offers miles of fine sand, coastal walks (the new coastal path is accessible to wheelchairs) and you can walk down to Sker or Pink Bay. Rest Bay, though, is the most popular – especially for water sports like surfing or body boarding. There’s lifeguard cover in the summer months (look for the flag first: no flag, no lifeguard) when teenagers can take some surfing lessons with the Surfing Academy (which are charged). There is a café bar, toilets, first aid and lost children centre. There is one pay and display car park next to the beach, plus several parking bays for disabled drivers overlooking the beach.
