Every child in this community has greatness inside of them. They might not have discovered it yet but as they embark on life and explore the world around them they gain skills, day by day, that will not only help them learn at school, but help them develop as individuals and understand their value to their family, friends, class and community.

Play is a vital part of that process. It’s the stuff that makes children creative and curious, happy and hopeful, strong and secure. It’s the stuff that builds relationships and helps children grow in confidence and participate in a positive and productive way. It’s the stuff that keeps them healthy – physically, emotionally and mentally – tackling issues like obesity and stress, anxiety and underachievement.

We are committed to making Bridgend a play friendly county and know there are many great things to do and places to go that will help us achieve this. This website is run and developed by the Bridgend Play Partnership Group recognising the broad range of people and organisations that are doing great things to improve the lives of children and young people. Wales is the first nation in the world to recognise the rights of children to play and the fabulous role it has in their development, health, wellbeing and resilience. Bridgend County Borough Council is required by Welsh Government to create an action plan that recognises and removes barriers for children, young people and families so they can engage more easily with play opportunities. Our site has mixed up a whole range of ideas and activities for days out and days at home including a number of low cost or no cost options for families. It’s about children and young people enjoying life while they learn and develop with their friends, while at the same time having fun with their families. By working with partners and community groups we hope to add to our site as the weeks and months go by, bringing you news of some of the wonderful things going on across the region.
